Prepare the Model
Rig the model with Mixamo
When using a model downloaded from the internet, scanned with an app, or made by yourself, there is a big chance that the model is not "Rigged." This means the model doesn’t have the "skeleton" needed to be animated. This is where Mixamo comes in handy. Mixamo is a free service that allows you to rig 3D models with a few clicks.
As you can see in the video, you can upload any model (it works better if it is symmetrical), and Mixamo will automatically create a skeleton for it after you set up a few reference points. After the model is skinned, you’ll see it move in a preview, and then it’s ready to be downloaded. You can then download the skinned model ("with skin") or just the animation for that skeleton ("without skin"). This model is ready to be used in the app.
Camera Controls
Learn how to navigate your scene using simple trackpad gestures:
- Click and drag: Rotate the camera
- Pinch in and out: Zoom in and out
- Two-finger drag: Move the camera
Add Model
Upload a 3D model in FBX, or STL format. Click the "Load Model" button in the left sidebar to select your file.
Transform Model
If your model isn’t positioned correctly, select it by clicking on it. Use the transform tools in the topbar to adjust its position, rotation, or scale.
Add Animation
To add an animation (FBX format), click the "+" button on the left sidebar and select your file. The animation will appear on the sidebar, with a play button and slider for keyframe control.
Add Prop
Upload props (FBX, or STL format) by clicking the "+" button on the right sidebar. Attach props to model bones to synchronize their movement with the animation. You can also transform props using the tools in the topbar.
Export
When your scene is ready, click the red "Export Model" button on the left sidebar. This will export the model and attached props as a single STL file at the current animation keyframe.
